The Speaking exam part
What does the exam look like?
You sit at a computer with a headset and microphone. You watch short videos showing everyday situations — for example someone asking you something — and speak your answer into the microphone. Cito assesses your recording afterwards; you don't have a live conversation with an examiner.
What do you need to be able to do?
You respond verbally to spoken questions and situations: for example making an appointment, explaining something, or describing what you're going to do. It's normal to feel nervous — try to speak calmly and clearly; small mistakes aren't a problem as long as your message comes across.
How do you practice?
inburgeren.nl offers 3 free official practice exams for Speaking, in the same computer format as the real exam.
Note: doesn't work in Safari
Also practice speaking Dutch out loud about everyday topics: introducing yourself, describing your day, or role-playing a conversation with an organization. Practicing out loud — even alone, in front of a mirror — gets you used to hearing your own voice in Dutch.
